8 Good Things ! #005
A deep dive into everything I bought at The Row Sale, my current fixation w/ Perfect Transitional Coats, and Good Things that are making my brain spin. iLY xx
I was lucky #7 in line for Day 1 of the Row Sample Sale. Granted, Friends and Family was the day prior, of which I am…. not.. but I must admit that I felt like the plebeian king. I posted my haul on tiktok/insta which has since circulated in a niche-viral capacity…..I popped by the sale like an addict this morning and was stopped by far too many chic women who had watched the vid, & by proxy — I also became a quasi stylist in the women’s dressing room helping ppl edit their picks? — LOOL? Most humorously, I bought nothing today — there was nothing new, and I felt like I was the girliepop main character in a case study of The Law of Diminishing Returns.
IDK if sample sales are cringe, or if what i’m going to say is too much Girl Scout energy for the beginning of scorpio szn, but I had the time of my life this week. There’s nothing like the dense concentration of feminine energy — enduring the range of good, bad, and ugly — to make you feel infinitely proud to be a woman. Ok.. dw i’m reading the room — enough with my sensitivo philosophizing, let’s get to the goods (what I bought):
THE LARGE PARK TOTE (WITH AN ADJUSTABLE BELT STRAP). If you know me, then you know I’ve spent the past year lamenting my lack of a chic bag permissible for meetings with chic & fashionable people. Taking my neoprene dagne dover backpack to a strategy meeting at Zero Bond was my 13th reason (no shade). I’d been considering lots of bags (including the brown suede Margaux 15/17) but amongst the categories of being logo-less, well made (but can scratch/patina bc I love those vibes), and light enough to take on a long walk to a cafe w/ my laptop tucked inside…. the large park tote kept coming to the top of my list. My only regret was that the strap wasn’t adjustable — which was the main reason fueling my inability 2 commit. Well HAHA to me. I meditated before the sale and asked the universe to do its Big One. She obliged, and as I was walking away from the bag table w/ my shoulders hunched like a sad boi, I saw the tote hidden beneath some ugly bags (sorry). She’s perfect. I love her. Annnnd I got her 75% off (as with everything at the sale) <3.
I didn’t post this one because I find it ridiculous, but trademarked is a safe space. I also picked up a Lululemon-esque athletic quarter zip (more sizes here, on sale here). I’ve always wanted it, but could never justify $850 for whatever relatively cheap material workout clothes are made out of (an assumption, correct me if wrong lol). I’m not sure if I have a workout bougie enough to justify The Row, but with the discount, it was around the price of what I’d have paid for “luxurious” athletic wear on net-a-porter. Maybe it’s time I explore Tracy Anderson to rlly ascend into my Tracee Ellis Ross moon? Or is it more “wear to hike Runyon”? Idk, LA —call me.
The Ava Booties aka Pilgrim Steppaz (not online but these are basically the same). So funny because I was actually going to wax poetic this week about how I’m obsessed with an ultra flat sole lambskin boot. Favorites include: these midcalfs, these knee lengths, zip booties, baby heeled booties that my EIHG (elusive international hot girl) friend has, and these sock booties. As I mentioned last week, soft leather and malleability of a shoe is a major key for comfort if you intend to wear on longer walks. I’m a daylight Walking Girl in nyc so I’m always looking for a v comfy shoe that is also elevated/fits into my style codes. I think the ultra flat sole/sock bootie has this air of cool girl effortlessness? It’s very IYKYK fashion girl coded to me — I think you get it or you don’t. Like Zoe Kravitz meets Jennifer Lawrence see u next Tuesday (which is all I’ve ever dreamed of).
THE MOON SHIRT. I am a button down GIRL. Probably since I was 7? 8? Button downs are my desert island clothing choice. I love them, I live by them, and The Row makes some of the best ones. For me, a good button down depends on cut (length/hip/collar/etc), proportions (are we volume dressing or are we load balancing or are we streamlined), and fabric (a good one has a luminosity to it — even if it’s a crisp poplin). I’ve always adored the Row’s Moon shirt because I am a fan of shirt pockets, but not rlly on me (I find them unflattering bc I also have Big B00bs). This one has a very elegant and unique pocket that is flatly stitched — adds everything but subtracts nothing. It’s giving rich zillennial mom attending a parent teacher conference…within the context of the Nancy Meyers Universe. I couldn’t ask for more.
I am also a sl00t for a see-through top, it’s the most pick me thing about me. U gotta take the L with the Dub, u know?? Anyway, I spotted this finely knit turtleneck that speaks to all of my sexy dinner outfit codes — it just WORKS. I’ll wear tucked with a black jean and a heeled bootie (likely acne?) and my red le teckel (oooobviously). K that’s it on the sale <3
Also B4 u ask — i’m too lazy to type all of the do’s and don’ts of the sale — here’s a download from my instagram story:
What I’m Still Shopping…
Ok kids, I’m going on a trip next week and I desperately need a light/medium weight wool/cashmere coat (the loulou studio one from last week was well made but too oversized/long 4 me):
At the Row Sale, I spotted this INCREDIBLY chic woman wearing my concept of the perfect, transitional wool/cashmere coat. My friend was brave enough to ask her where it’s from, and she graciously gave us the deets. The reason why I’m obsessed with this jacket is because it’s all Very Cool in an effortless-yet-structured way (the collar really takes me there). I just ordered on Luisaviaroma (20% off!), and I’d like everyone to hold their crystals & manifest that it arrives on Tuesday AM at latest.
After frothing over The Coat, I realized I’m obsessed with a standing collar (aka mandarin collar). Like so much outerwear is uppercase BORING. I like pieces that feel like playfulness is being interpreted via classic codes, and I think that standing collars get me there. For more inspo, Loro Piana also makes one that’s similar.
ALSO — I think I’m most into peacoat lengths rn. After trying many long coats past the knee this season, I’ve realized that it’s just not the energy that I’m trying to throw atm. On that note, the Row Polli is very perfect, but I feel as though I need to diversify….. I did panic order 3 coats that were on sale via net a porter today (one below-knee LOL hypocrisy) will try on tomorrow: chocolate brown toteme, cropped wool & silk, loulou studio cropped. Idk guys, we’ll see…..
Quick Hits, Good STuff
THE VICTORIA BECKHAM CONCEALER IS INSANE? The team graciously sent me some to try, and I have to say…. bravo. More makeup brands need to collaborate with prestige skincare — I feel as though there’s incredible whitespace, and based on my observation, the consumer demand is there. What I love about the concealer is that it feels like a luxury product. It’s very your skin but better, and somehow provides fab coverage whilst feeling very light, buttery, and hydrating. I filmed the most ADHD core yap session last night of me trying… if you’d like the visuals :) :) :).
Also (not sponsored, simply a wee bit obsessed LOL) the VB Beauty team sent the 21:50 perfume that has notes of plum, tonka, vanilla, and tobacco. It’s HEADY in the sexiest way — very gourmand/dark fruit meets the smell of cigarettes trapped in hotel furniture. I’m wearing right now because I wanted to feel connected to my pheromones. It’s fabulous and plays well with others (I mixed with my signature perfume). Even better, the VB backstory is effectively her and David being a Hot Couple in the jungle? Posh Spice forever, idc.
JCREW is a vibe lately. Sadly, my brushed cashmere and satin pants spoken about last week have not yet arrived </3… I’ll let you know when they do!! Also, I’ll be pre-ordering these JCREW pajama pants (that I intended to wear as Real Pants). Like BBY Blue w/ maroon + white stripes? Say LESS.
Wait… Stirrup leggings are occupying my brain. Does anyone have a brand/pair they love? These look GORG, these also come very highly rated (and on sale), and these are Very affordable… I think for comfy-adjacent days when wearing a sock with your loafer sounds tedious + u do NOT want to offend a gen z passerby, stirrup leggings are the only acceptable way to pull it all off, net positive. Chic and very Ferragamo Spring 2025.
Update — the Leset Margo is the perfect white tee. I’ve already worn 3 times this week. I’m ordering more, you all were so right…..this is why I trust you with my life.
Guys Mark Cross is really UP rn? I only know about this (heritage..american) brand bc of my stiff upper lip aunts/cousins who live in the UK lol. Didn’t realize they have Mass Appeal Potential (apologies if this is my Jessel Tribeca moment)? This big suede tote in badger honey is so hot. I would have so much fun destroying her in a Jackson Hole way YoY (my ideal way to wear a suede bag LOL). I also love this little bby girl that’s like the leather sister of the Hermes Bride A Brac. BTW the BAB… IS a toiletry bag, but everyone has been wearing as a Real Bag… which has sparked fury from Hermes purists. I have friends on both sides of this war, so I’m going to remain Switzerland on whether or not that’s a vibe. Either way, I think the silhouette is very cute, and the Mark Cross Mason 17 takes me to a good place.
OKKK every week I’m like I won’t spill every corner of my brain…. and then I do. Hope that’s fun for you,
ILY. TGIF. Wishing U a beautiful weekend of browsing & shopping & yapping & exploring all of the beautiful things that make your tummy hurt with glee. Ciao, lovers.
