This is as good a time as ever to explain that I practically grew up on planes….. Like so much so that I traded KLM houses with my cousins like Pokemon cards (until our parents realized that they were filled with.. gin — OOPS). I knew certain sky clubs better than my neighborhood playground, and major changes to delta’s cabins always seemed to coincide with major arcs of my adolescence (e.g., gogoinflight wifi dropped the year I turned 13 —I was like FINALLY im living in the FUTURE loool).

In convos with E(I)HGs in my life (and all of you who I have met through TM <3), I’ve noted that the way you talk about travel is one of your central/unifying threads. So it’s kiiiiinda crazy that we never talk much about the semantics of travel here (my bad, bc a lot of you HAVE asked)???

THEREFORE — I’ve decided the time has come!!!!!! I’m going to London tomorrow, and figured we could go through an edit of MUSTS for the flight (skincare, what im wearing longhaul, etc) + a sample of things I’m def packing 4 the trip….. with tips and tricks that I’ve learned the hard way, or from the wisdom bestowed by EIHGs x EHGs in my life (chicest travelers of all TIME). Like guys I’m sorry but I never want to hear about you wearing a silk/satin pant on a plane. HELLO, WRINKLES. Why am I seeing this suggestion everywhere lately??? The longer the flight, the tighter the pant (compression!). i’ve seen this play out the wrong way enough times…….. im begging U.

ALSO (last aside)….. although the weather is dreary af in NYC (and will be dreary AF in London), I can’t HELP but feel excited for summer 2025. I’m working on some E(I)HG universe starter packs that’ll drop over the next ~week or two, but I HAVE started shopping and I just can’t not discuss my every thought with you!!!! We’ll start with summer bc it’s shorter, and then go into packing 4 LONDON!!!!!!

A SUMMER SAMPLE

hailed Khaki as IN for summer, and I deeeeply agree. Fashion girls are always a season (or two) ahead, and I’m noticing that the largely unspoken GET is khaki suiting + layering for spring/summer. I’ve been keeping my eyes and ears to the GROUND on the Bermuda short front, and these ones (linen) and these ones (cotton/suiting fabric) are by far my favorites thus far. The pleating is v flattering, the cut flows (too many Bermuda’s are looking too straight legged… just wear a capri then??? lol), and IMAGINE with a simple, low-cut ribbed tank + stacked silver bangles/cuffs??? WOAH.
Guys SOS I am on the hunt for the perfect raffia bag and this one by the row keeps occupying my dreams. Does anyone have it???? I don’t need anything too tan (as I’ll be wearing KHAKI LOL), and think this darker straw is aged and CHIC + will provide meaningful contrast???? LMK!!!!
OH HELLO — I believe we need to be considering Monica Vinader jewelry for summer!!!! It was first introduced to me as THE London EIHG commodity during college, and I was so influenced by my chic and perfect friends that two weeks postgrad, I spent $2K on a stack of engraved diamond + rose gold bracelets (and one very cute evil eye) that I wore everyday from 21-24. However, our love was cut short bc I stopped wearing jewelry midway through the pandemic — I hadn’t thought much about the brand until I was in London last fall, and once again, hit in the face by all of the chic EIHGs in my life who had STACKED wrists and hands filled with MV bracelets & rings (it even made the OG EIHG brand list last fall).
When I’d probed my (dare i say.. posh..) bff about why MV is still so sticky, she said, “the quality is consistently amazing, it’s still priced affordably, and it just feels quintessential to the London girl”. Also, she added, it’s perfect jewelry for travel (& we know EIHGs love a plane lmfaaoo) — gorgeous but not so finicky that you feel unsafe!!! Anyway, I’ve had lots of MV in my cart recently, so you can imagine my surprise (!!!) when their team reached out to do a summer edit on TM <3. I peeled through literally everything available on the site 3 times over and have landed on the following picks:
1. First — SILVER IS IN. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but it’s the hot girl metal this summer!!!! This cord necklace with a substantial/sculptural silver droplet is exactly what I’ve been looking for to wear with like a low-cut ribbed tank and an oversized white button down, so we obviously needed that. The same silver pebble exists in ring form, which looks sculptural and elegant on the pointer finger and also makes me feel like I ~~own~~ inherited a gallery.

2. Ok keeping on the gallery theme…. these like bobbly domed cocktail rings in green onyx (heart chakra, protecting, soothing, compassion + love!) and tigers eye (prosperity, clarity, and inner strength <3) are INSANE — weighty and v substantial. When the green hits the light it looks like a cartoon depiction of CANDY — so edible + the tigers eye looks v regal. I decided to wear BOTH for a dinner over the weekend and felt incredibly cool and original. I kept making shocked faces where I’d have to bring my hand to my face LOOL. And to make things even better — I was complimented thoroughly for it, HEHE!!!!
3. Lastly — I am ALSO into the vibe of stacking the pink quartz (unconditional love and peace!!!) + green onyx tennis bracelets together??? Watermelon popsicles, FUN & FLIRTY!!!

THE (EIHG APPROVED) PACKING LIST: LONDON

THE LUGGAGE:

There’s a weird myth going around lately about how well traveled people MUST/ ALWAYS pack light. To which I say, just because I can doesn’t mean that I DO — I’ve been known to check a bag for 48 hours in LA, and you think I’m NOT going to be checking a bag for four and a half DAYS in London???? BesoooooooFFR rn.
My carry on suitcase is this tangerine/mango (2020 edition?) rimowa cabin that I’ve only ever seen on me and Gigi Hadid in Paris, which makes me feel very ON IT. & IK rimowa gets sh*t on for being b@sic, but I love mine (it’s been durable asf!). +Strongly believe they are best in a SICK seasonal color. Less interesting to me if neutral TBH (just get a tumi/globe trotter, etc,).
Now, for check-in luggage, since I only REALLY believe in rimowa for their seasonal colors (btw not every year is gr8), and I don’t entirely believe in light-hued check-in bags… 4 this category, Rimowa is out and Tumi is IN (this is my primary rn!!). They’re sturdy and last forever, and not only do I oftentimes get complimented on this one at check in, It FITS SO MUCH (necessary as an overpacker + SHOPPER). I’m pro hard shell because once my soft-shell luggage got drenched during a monsoon (HA) and it smelled AWFUL. 4 luggage buys, you rlly have to think about volume capacity + what you tend to pack, not just the overall size of the bag!! And I’m PRO luggage w/ extenders too (controversial)!!

THE FLIGHT:

I transfer my MOST reached for hits into the plane cosmetic case bc it typically fits in the weird compartments better LOL

The FIT: since i’ll be on an evening flight, I’m hitting my tried and true cozy uniform!!! I always do a compression legging from lulu or alo, my favorite (perfect) row long sleeve, a plush khaite sweater (currently on sale!!!!), a cashmere blanket scarf (stays in the purse as an extra blanket but sometimes I’ll also wrap as a shawl when I land), a baseball hat (somehow makes the casualness of the fit feel intentional), a colorful sock (swear by these compression socks — i’ll change into them b4 takeoff), and likely hitting these dries sneakers > leopard sambas this go.
THE BAG: here’s what I’m packing in my (11 year old, TM heatstamped lol) neverfull GM for JFK → LHR…..
1. HAND SANITZIER. This is the best touchland scent, but another sleeper hand sanitizer is by Aesop!!!! It’s ASTRINGENT but your hands stay soft (and smells divine).
2. The best hand cream of all time ( I know I use a lot of superlatives but i’m a virgo sun + moon and taurus rising so I hope u know when I say the best I mean THE BEST)
3. My favorite plane scent — it’s an oil roller so you’re not offending your neighbors w/ bad manners (if you’re going to spray try & do it in the bathroom PLS) and smells luxe like you’ve just returned from a Goopy private retreat in the amazon.
4. The only deodorant I’ve ever worn and loved (since I was ~13?)
  post (international) flight SKIN!!!!!
5. SAY IT WITH ME, PLANE SKINCARE IS ESSENTIAL. Like plane air is ofc dehydrating, but oddly always makes my skin GLOW if I’m doing the right things!!! E.G, — Less than 2 hours? Pack a facial mist (this is my pick). ~4 hours? I tend to rehydrate post mist with another layer of moisturizer + facial oil (this stuff is my holy grail). 5+ hours warrants a ROUTINE.
  1. Since I’m on an evening flight, I’ll have showered and DOUSED myself with skincare (no sunscreen) before leaving the house ~3 hours before. From the lounge, I’ll prob do a spritz, moisturizer, and facial oil if my skin looks dry, and I’ll likely be asleep within the first hour onboard (not long enough of a flight to dilly dally). I’ll layer on my new favorite evening lip balm intermittently — it’s thick and so hydrating but your lips look SHINY like a gloss. (Also unscented which I almost prefer… makes me feel like healing is happening LOL.)
  2. When I wake up, I’ll use the restroom, wash my hands, hand sanitizer, and then wipe my face with a facial wipe and then put on my favorite sheet mask (or eye mask if I can’t be bothered) for about 30 minutes. By this point I’ll be deeply caffeinated (plane espresso is.. jet fuel??), I’ll hand sanitize (again), remove the mask, spritz, put on a light layer of serum, moisturizer, face oil, and sunscreen!!! TIME 2 GLOW
6. Also in the bag:
  1. Wish I was a BYORWB (bring ur own reusable water bottle) travel girl but I fear I am never organized enough to see that mission through. As a result, I stop by those convenience stores were everything is a flat rate of one million dollars to buy a liter of Evian AND a magazine (can’t wait for Tatler time!!!!!!).
  2. THE THERAFACE IS THE BEST, MOST MAGICAL FACIAL WAND (tool?) OF ALL TIME — depuffs, cools, heats, a spa in a device. I use mine everyday LOL
  3. I always travel with so many goop-adjacent mom approved vitamins & potions (lmk if we ever wanna get into that) + gum + the EIHG beloved listerine strips that make my tummy hurt but im addicted to them :D
  4. The aforementioned cashmere scarf (EIHGs love this one too).
  5. And all of my pouches are either from (business/first) flights over the years, hotels (hi upper house), or gifted ones from chic EIHGs in my life (hi

    ). If I WERE to buy, I’d consider hitting up zitomers (UES) for their stealth EHG approved selection of silk (or floral), cosmetic cases, OR cave w/ a set of EIHG core LV monogramed toiletry bags (I flirt with this every 6 months).
  6. And 17 tech devices that I never touch bc I go to sleep right away (iPad! laptop! cords! kindle! phone! portable charger! 3 kinds of headphones! etc etc etc)…. does anyone feel like they watch far LESS plane movies than they did as a kid??? I rarely do now.. my TV is on the map and that’s it (bleak pOV)
  7. passport! I don’t have a chic case for mine, which I am perpetually saddened by…. if anyone wants to influence me in their direction I’d be so grateful!!!!!!! so many options, yet WHO am I in a sea of HermesGoyardLVBottegaSmythson,etc yk????

THE TRIP

Welcome to my madness: I leave in less than 24 hours and haven’t decided what my aura will be…. I’ve gotten as far as skincare + outerwear + underwear LOL.

Outerwear: This perfect khaki, cropped a-line jacket. I’m obsessed with G. Label now you guys, the quality is out of this WORLD — can’t believe I ever doubted queen GP. Also a double breasted toteme blazer, and perhaps my grail of a cowhide Helmut Lang trench!!!!
Underwear: NEGATIVE MAKES THE BEST COTTON UNDIES OF ALL TIME (I am packing these French briefs and these normal briefs)
PJs + Tees: A couple of these perfect white tees + one of THESE niche EIHG boatneck long sleeves that

SKINCARE: I always go light on both makeup and skincare when traveling!!!
1. Am packing full retrouve (exfoliant, moisturizer, undereye balm, serum, face oil… not in that order) + this incredible cleanser
2. I always bring 3 sheet masks on a trip (one for each flight, one for one of the days)…. as I continue to flag, these are the fckn BEST.
3. THE NEW MADAME GREY HAIR FRAGRANCE THAT LITERALLY GETS ME COMPLIMENTED ON THE STREET???!!!!! Also this sexy hot perfect cool interesting Victoria Beckham perfume bc it feels rude to not bring her back to the homeland🇬🇧
4. For Makeup: this concealer, this pinky glossy lip balm + this perfect lip combo (lipliner + lipstick) + this blush + this highlighter + this eyebrow pencil + this unstoppable mascara!!!! And that’s it!!!

OK I like mUST stop myself here….., HOWEVER this was so fun!!!! A two in one if you will…. hopefully it was a better time than the shampoo+conditioner combo that murray hill guys w/ navy sheets have in their bathrooms……
