THE RECAP: TM x Dr. Idriss — An EIHG Live

peaking behind the curtain with Dr. Idriss-- the board certified cosmetic derm who is somehow JUST as beloved by millions online as she is by NYC's buzziest set of IT Girls <3

Hi my angels—

Yesterday’s Live with Dr. Idriss was one of those conversations that sticks with you. It gave us room to question why we do what we do — and how our decisions shape not only the body, but the mind, our wellbeing, and the way we move through time.

It was my first time interviewing one-on-one, and it was also Dr. Idriss’s first ever Live on Substack (honored BEYOND!!!!!!). What began as an hour-long discussion ended up feeling more like a pod / guest lecture / overheard bits at an intimate dinner party than I could have ever expected.

It was precise, funny, tender, and genuinely revelatory — woven by a woman who contains multitudes: speaks fluent French (went to lycée), is a board-certified cosmetic derm (her practice is beloved and frequented by the NYC IT girls) who has amassed an online community of over 3 MILLION, a mother of two, the founder of a bestselling skincare brand that’s now in over 300 doors at Sephora (!!!!!), and lives her life with discernment and intentionality. If it sounds like I’m reading from the EIHG handbook… perhaps it’s because I am…. Dr. Idriss is an EIHG muse, after all ;).

My favorite part of the live (~11-31 mins in) was also perhaps the most soulful yet invigorating. Here, Dr. Idriss discussed a novel approach to cellular regeneration in the face (instead of plumping with fillers) by using our belly fat for its stem cells!!! And we didn’t stop there — I was perhaps floating celestially towards the end because of how DEEP we went to explore the ethos of aging… AKA how the chicest, most powerful, and most interesting women do it WELL vs. those who are… suffering (despite having b*llions of dollars at their disposal).

As the conversation wove its way through the philosophical (contemplative dialogue is the TM way after all), we landed on the journey of finding stillness with oneself. And then, also very TM, we took a turn toward the dishy and the anthropological — like:

  • The surprising trick to keep a GLOW through the holidays (I promise it’s not what you think)

  • The products Dr. Idriss swears by for complexion — which she’s adamant is the real key to “looking good” as you age (not plumpness, or chasing every fine line w/ botox)

  • Me ranting about how the Dr. Idriss lip balm is the FCKN BEST. My winter hyper-fixation. I cannot get enough of it.

  • And…. we spilled some tea. I revealed something I’d promised a very chic, very cool woman in her 60s (while chatting at the Greenwich Hotel’s spa) that I’d gatekeep,OOPS… however, ameliorated by the fact that Dr. Idriss fully agreed with what I had to say.

Anyway, I could go on forever, and honestly wish the live could’ve lasted at least half that long.

I LOVE YOU ALL. Thank you for holding space for something this meaningful (+the incredible in-live commentary from Jess Graves + one of my best friends since college + my mom — who had her own recurring bit going with Dr. Idriss during the live… iconic).

Dr. Idriss — thank you for taking the time out of your wildly busy schedule to be with us, and pls join Substack!!!!! I wanted to reach out and hug you several times throughout — your aura was exactly what we needed. Just so warm and so loving and so so perfect. But again, EIHGs always are ;).

TALK SOON;
